Henwood Class visit to Carnglaze Caverns Jan 2020

Henwood class became real explorers and visited a local man-made slate mine, Carnglaze Caverns, this term.
The children learnt about local mining history and imagined what life would be like as a 7-year-old working at the mine. We went on to handle and observe the different rocks that are mined for, linking them to their real life uses for objects. Some children said "It's almost like we're in the game, Minecraft!".  We ended the day with a beautiful woodland walk where we saw early signs of spring with bulbs beginning to pop up and different habitats from woodland creatures.
